Hi there, and welcome to our blog! My name is Elle. Well my full name is Elizabeth, but everyone calls me Elle (pronounced like Ellie).
I was born and raised in desert that people call Mesa, Arizona. Many people hate the desert, but I love it. It is so beautiful. I absolutely love cactus. Don’t even get me started on the amazing sunsets. Some of my favorite things ever are hiking, riding my bike everywhere and chocolate!! I am obsessed with chocolate.
A few years ago, my life took an unexpected, yet wonderful turn when I met my now husband. His name is Max, or Maximus Maxwell, as I like to call him. I love him. For about the first two years of our marriage, we were privileged enough to live on Oahu in Hawaii while Max was finishing college. The weather, the scenery, the beaches, everything was so beautiful. It was truly an incredible experience that we will never forget. You will probably hear me talk about our Hawaii experience every now and then. We met so many wonderful people from all over the world, and were introduced to many different cultures. We have many favorite places to eat there, especially the Fiji Market, which has the BEST chicken curry… YUM! We consider the Island our second home.
Being back in the heat of the desert, we miss the perfect island weather, but we have so many people and things that we love here. I discovered my passion for cooking while in Hawaii, and have taken it home with me across the ocean. I experimented a lot with cooking vegan and vegetarian dishes, but I love all kinds of food, and Max loves meat. I would spend hours looking up new recipes to try and Max would definitely notice. He called it my ‘food study time’, and that’s kind of where we got the name for the blog. He didn’t mind, as he got to eat the results of my (usually) yummy studies. 🙂 Right Max? That’s right.
Anyway, we started The Study of Yum, and I do the cooking and help Max with the photography. Max does all of his tech magic, and I try my best to keep up. I’m so excited about this blog and the adventure that it will be! Thanks for visiting and we hope you’ll stick around!
