Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

July 14, 2015 by Elle Leave a Comment

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal

For a long time I wasn’t a huge fan of oatmeal. I kind of had to force myself to eat it. Not fun. Then I discovered the key ingredients to making it actually taste good!  This might not be the healthiest but everything in moderation right? It’s all about the salt and the butter! I always sweetened my oatmeal but I never thought that salt and butter would be the perfect thing to balance it out and really make it super tasty. This is the perfect bowl of oatmeal. It’s a little sweet and it’s got a little bit of crunch from the nuts and apple chunks.

Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal
4 servings

Ingredients
1 1/2 cups water
1 cup oats
1/2 heaping cup cut up apple chunks
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
2 tablespoons maple syrup

Directions

1. Add the water, oats, apple, and salt to a small pot and bring to a boil. Lower the heat to medium and simmer for 3-5 minutes till oats are cooked and apple is tender.

2.  Turn off the heat and add the butter, cinnamon, chopped walnuts and maple syrup. Mix together well until the butter is melted and serve.
